Blue World/Green World includes 34 pieces by 16 of our members. Works for this exhibit range from representational to impressionistic to abstract. They are all references to the natural world, exploring the real world of sea, sky, field and trees as well as the metaphorical world, the limitless possibilities and the wonders of the here and now. This exhibit promotes serenity and groundedness. Members of the Fiber Artists Coalition employ a variety of innovative materials and techniques in the creation of quilt art with a distinctively contemporary edge.

Jean M. Judd - Mesa Contemporary Arts Museum

Greetings All,

Jean M. Judd, N.S.A. will be apart of this exhibit at the Mesa Contemporary Arts Museum in Mesa, Arizona has selected textile artist Jean M. Judd of Cushing, Wisconsin for inclusion in the 35th Annual Contemporary Crafts Exhibition. Artwork selected for inclusion in the exhibit includes: Twirling Leaves #2.  This is Judd’s fourth year being included in this exhibition.

This exhibition highlights the finest in contemporary crafts from around the country and is a benchmark of innovation and quality produced within traditional craft forms such as ceramics, fibers, basketry, metals, wood, glass, jewelry, paper making and book arts. Forty-six artworks by thirty-five artists were selected from a pool of 248 submissions by exhibition juror Independent Curator Julie M. Muñiz of the Oakland Museum of California.

The exhibition opens on February 14, 2014 and is open through April 13, 2014. The artist reception and awards presentation is on February 14, 2014 from 7 to 10pm. The address of the museum is:

SAQA Help Needed

I know that many of you helped with the booth for SAQA last year but they are desprately in need of help again this year. Please consider taking this on - we all get a lot from SAQA - can anyone help give back?

SAQA is looking for two volunteer booth coordinators for the Sewing and Quilting Expo, March 27-29, in Shaumberg, IL and for the International Quilt Festival, Chicago- June 20 -22.  

Please contact  Desi Vaughn if you are interested. If there are two of you that would like to share the coordinating duties for either of the shows, that is great too.

I am only looking for coordinators right now, we'll be asking for help staffing the booths closer to the events.  Please save the dates to help out.

Jean M. Judd - Elk River Area Arts Alliance

Greetings All 
The Elk River Area Arts Alliance has announced textile artist Jean M. Judd of Cushing, Wisconsin as one of the artists selected for inclusion in the Arts in Harmony 2014 International Juried Art exhibition. Artwork selected for inclusion in the exhibit includes: Contaminated Water #8: Water Spider.  This is Judd’s seventh year being included in this prestigious exhibition.

Exhibit juror Curt Pederson, Curator of Exhibits and Collections at the American Swedish Institute, Minneapolis has selected artworks from one of the largest submission pools ever received. The exhibit opens on February 3, 2014 and is open through March 27, 2014. The artist reception and awards presentation (over $10,000) is on February 9, 2014 from 1 to 3:30pm.
