"That Secret" @Denise Havlan |
Denise Tallon Havlan is an award winning fiber
artist from Plainfield, Illinois. Her
work has been displayed in art galleries, national and international exhibitions.
Fundamentals of composition, color, and design combined with the technical
skills in manipulating fabric bring a new dimension to the term “art quilt”. Denise
allows each individual piece to determine its own creative process.
Technical methods range from hand and machine applique,
machine embroidery with the use of textile paints, dyes, inks and color pencil
to alter and enhance fabrics. The “message” of a work often occurs without pre-planning. Since the actual construction process takes some time original
ideas may develop further or change as the piece comes to life. Denise believes
a greater depth of tactile complexity and realism is accomplished through the
combination of hand painted fabric combined with self-altered commercial
fabrics to realize the image.
