SAQA/SDA Meeting, Workshop, Studio Tour and 4th Friday Event

Please join us for an exciting meeting, studio tour, and workshop with Golden rep using paints and mediums on Friday, July 27 from 12-4:30 pm.
Workshop description:
Acrylic paint for surface design - $40 per person ($35 if you bring your own fabric to work with).
Monoprint, stamp, emboss, use resists: acrylic paints are a versatile medium to use for creating amazing surface designs for fabrics and papers. Sample the Golden "open" line of paints (the ones with the longer dry time), as well as the fluids (mixed with GAC 900 for a soft hand and ability to heat set) as well as a variety of other products-glass bead gel, mica, GAC 400. All paints included. Please bring acrylic brushes, assorted fabrics, a carrier for wet projects and your imagination!
Logistics:
The meeting will be held at The Starline Gallery, 400 Front St, Harvard, IL, Studio 205H. This is Barbara Schneider’s new studio space with lots of room for meetings and workshops. We will have potluck lunch at Noon, then a meeting, studio “tour’, and start the workshop at 1:30. Even if you can’t do the workshop come for the meeting and tour.
4th Friday Event: The Starline Gallery will be holding a 4th Friday event from 6-9 pm on July 27 as well. This is a really nice event – usually 2 art exhibits, open studios, live music, and the cost is only $5 which includes 2 drinks and lots of goodies to eat. Plan to stay for it if you can! Jeanette Thompson has offered to organize a little dinner break in between end of workshop and start of 4th Friday for those who want to stay on.
So we have a great day planned and hope that you can all sign up for the workshop, or come for the meeting, or come for 4th Friday.
Please RSVP to me ASAP! We need to let Golden know how many people will be attending the workshop.
Driving Option: The drive is about 60 miles from Chicago – you take the Tollway (90) toward Rockford and get off at Rt. 47 and drive north until you get to Rt. 14 in Woodstock ( about 15 miles). Turn left and follow Rt. 14 into Harvard (about 15 minutes). Go through Harvard, pass Rt. 173 and go over the bridge. Make an immediate left on to Front St and go 4 blocks to the Starline Gallery. There is parking directly across the street. Call Barbara's cell 815-403-6424 so she can let you in.
Train Option: If anyone is interested in taking the train it is the Union Pacific Northwest line that runs from Ogilvie Transportation Center out to Harvard. The train station in Harvard is 1 block from the The Starline Gallery. The schedule back to Chicago is great – a train at 4:35 and 5:35 but the train out gets you to Harvard at 9:20 or 1:30. Barbara will be at the studio if anyone wants to try the train but please let her know.
